Strategic Plan

As one of the largest and longest-serving philanthropic organizations in North Carolina, the YMCA of the Triangle is committed to facilitating connections among people, places and services that address our region's most pressing social issues.

Over the next five years, our Strategic Goals will guide our pursuit of reaching optimal missional performance in youth development, healthy living, staff, volunteers, philanthropy, fiscal management, facilities, technology, brand and belonging.

Positive Youth Development

Support strong and resilient youth, teens and families.

2030 Target: The YMCA is positioned to support all families, through programs and curriculum that equip children and teens to grow as individuals. New programs and enhancements are created based on proven assessment methods with emphasis on social-emotional learning, academic achievement, community service, wellness, fellowship and civic engagement.

Community Health & Well-being

Positively impact social determinants of health in our service area.

2030 Target: The YMCA will improve community health by increasing staff training and collaborating with external partners to better address the diverse needs of members and participants, particularly in areas related to health and mental wellness. The Y will forge a path toward a future where every individual thrives, igniting a beacon of hope and vitality in our communities.

Operational Infrastructure

Develop and optimize programs, systems, strategies and infrastructure to remain competitive and sustainable.

2030 Target: The Y will enhance our capacity to serve members and communities by improving infrastructure, data utilization and revenue generation. We will ensure our continued success and ability to impact communities by prioritizing strategic planning, measurement, effective organizational growth and sustainability.

Organization of Choice

Attract and retain a diversity of leading talent, innovative partners, key community leaders, volunteers and donors to meet the needs of our region.

2030 Target: The Y will prioritize employee well-being, engagement and development by fostering a positive and supportive organizational culture. We will strive to ensure competitive compensation, promote career advancement opportunities and enhance diversity and inclusion efforts. We're dedicated to measuring and enhancing employee satisfaction, implementing structured talent management processes and amplifying volunteer engagement to strengthen community impact.

Brand and Impact Awareness

Position the YMCA of the Triangle as the leading nonprofit committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

2030 Target: With a focus on understanding community needs and demographics, we will enhance the YMCA's ability to communicate impact, increase philanthropic support and build partnerships within the community. Utilizing data to inform decision-making and assessing resources to support organizational goals, our efforts will strengthen the Y's presence, reputation and ability to serve our community effectively.

Strategic Community Partner

Identify and maximize partnerships and collaborations to foster connected and cohesive communities.

2030 Target: The YMCA of the Triangle will follow an established road map for building and evaluating successful partnerships to ensure shared purpose and alignment of objectives. We will draw from key metrics to leverage the strengths and resources of our partners and enhance the effectiveness of our services.
