The YMCA offers sports all year at branches and locations around the Triangle for kids ages 3 - 15. They come to play basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball, baseball, tee-ball, softball, futsal and tennis.
YMCA youth sports provide opportunities for camaraderie, building skills and character development. We aim to keep kids moving and focus on their health and well-being.
We offer competitive and recreational programs.
YMCA Rookie Sports is designed for kids, ages 3 - 5 (potty-trained), who are new to sports and teaches basic skill development in soccer, basketball, and tee-ball.
Players are introduced to sports through drills, gym games and team play. We aim to build confidence and enhance motor skills.
Rookie Sports is held throughout the year. Each season is between 6 - 8 weeks long and ends with a family day and an awards celebration.
This fall and winter YMCA youth basketball will be different. Due to state and local guidelines around health and safety, the YMCA has decided to restructure our leagues.
Instead of a traditional league format, we are adapting to focus on skills development through our YMCA Basketball Skills Academy.
Youth Flag Football
This spring, YMCA flag football will offer small-sided league play. Games will take place with fewer athletes on the field than a typical season. In addition, for families who are not ready to participate in games, we will offer regional academy style clinics. We're committed to keeping players, coaches and spectators safe at the YMCA.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Like everyone, we are keeping up with the latest North Carolina and CDC guidelines around COVID safety. Please be sure to check our Youth Sports Health and Safety page for the latest information.
Tennis lessons are a great way to learn the game of tennis or to perfect your tennis game.
Whether your child is brand new to tennis or an advanced player, he or she can learn skills and techniques from one of our tennis professionals.
We offer private, semi-private and group lessons for players of all ages and skill levels.
Each year the YMCA of the Triangle introduces more than 100 kids ages 7 - 14 to triathlons. We host a youth triathlon in North Raleigh in the late summer.
The YMCA also offers a five-week training program to help participants get prepared for the race.

The YMCA offers volleyball for ages 7 - 14. Depending on age and location, teams may be led by volunteer coaches or YMCA staff, and practices and game schedules may vary.
