Julia Goggin, a junior at Cape Fear Academy, opened her Youth Governor pitch with a dynamic promo video featuring the song, “360,” by Charli XCX. She began with jokes including failing her driver’s test twice and never passing a bill through committee, but explained how her setbacks only proved she’s not afraid to try. Goggin brings extensive experience as a bill writer, lobbyist, committee chair, floor leader and presiding officer.
When asked why she’s running to be the 2027 Youth Governor, her answer was simple: “To help delegates succeed.” She is committed to empowering new delegates to step outside of their comfort zones by revamping pre-conference and launching a first-time delegate mentor program. If elected, she hopes to build confidence and create a YAG where learning and growth go hand-in-hand, where nervousness and effort are accepted and no one is defined by failure.
