Marihya Smith, a junior at the Early College of Forsyth, knew exactly how to capture the attention of hundreds of teenagers with a promotional video that displayed her speaking with an overlay of a funny Subway Surfers game video. Following this, she delivered a vulnerable and honest speech highlighting how her previous losses have transformed her into a strong, persevering and understanding Youth Governor candidate.
Marihya’s promises included: strengthening communication between delegates, delegations, officers and the state; improving the pre-conference experience; creating a more equitable and transparent scholarship application; growing NC Youth and Government through outreach programs; and strengthening connectivity and appreciation across all branches here at YAG.
