Addison Garnett, a dedicated delegate from North Raleigh Christian Academy, is no stranger to YAG. Previously serving as the leader of her Mock Trial delegation, Garnett has experience overseeing a team and coordinating with many to create a cohesive final product. As a worker on the campaign for the current Wake Forest Mayor, Ben Clapsaddle, Garnett has worked in her local government and worked to help a politician get elected. Working as a Governor’s Page also taught Garnett about the structure of government and the numerous components that work together to create an efficient system.
One key component of Garnett’s philosophy for creating a welcoming conference is ensuring that every delegate feels included and knows they are a valuable part of this program, despite the plethora of moving parts that YAG comes with. Garnett also commented on the backlash that strong, devoted women are sometimes labeled as “crazy” or “out of their minds.” But in a moment of true wisdom, Garnett offered advice to those who may get hit with these words: “Keep leading and advocating for what you are passionate about, regardless of any naysayers who try to put you down. Because standing up for your beliefs is the mark of a true leader.”
