A Place to Belong
“I lived in a public housing project nine blocks from the YMCA. At 7 years old, I was invited to go to the Y, and I’ve been there ever since.”
Tom Bradshaw credits the YMCA with giving him his first pair of sneakers and inspiring him to get involved in the community. Over the years, Tom, the former Raleigh Mayor and longtime public servant says his most important title is YMCA member and volunteer.
BELONG
The YMCA gave Tom opportunity, best friends and a place to belong.
"No other organization is doing what the Y has been doing within this region," said Tom. "We can do more. We need to do more."
Each day, our walls echo with YMCA stories like Tom’s that serve as amazing reminders that at the YMCA there is always room for one more.
We believe everyone deserves a chance to reach his or her potential. That's why we remove financial barriers to life-enhancing Y programming for those that couldn't otherwise afford to participate.
GIVE
We’re celebrating 25 years of building people through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Help us inspire involvement, bridge critical gaps and create opportunities for all.
100% of every dollar given through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign is invested in the lives of people who need the Y.
