The heart of our Durham YMCA is our members, volunteers and staff. We're excited to spotlight someone who truly lights up our YMCA with her infectious energy and passion for family programs - Alexandria "Lexi" Reid!
"I started working for the YMCA in 2021. I was a stay-at-home mom looking for a way to get into the workforce again, and thanks to Jennifer Stuart I was introduced and welcomed into Kid Zone with open arms.
"What I love most about working at the Y is the people and the community! I love the interactions and the connections that I make with not only the members but my fellow co-workers. I have made some lifelong relationships while working at the YMCA.
"Outside of the Y, I am a mother first to my beautiful daughter Denise. I am also a preschool teacher and I assist with community service, and outreach work whenever I can.
"Working at the YMCA is such an amazing opportunity and I'm proud to be associated with the Y."

Initially serving as a supervisor at the Northwest Cary location, she sought the Kidzone supervisor role through an interview process. However, upon meeting her, I instinctively recognized her as the perfect fit for the coordinator position. Expressing my intention to promote her, she gladly accepted the offer and seamlessly transitioned into the role at the Durham branch. From the very beginning, she demonstrated remarkable initiative and wasted no time in introducing herself to everyone and attending to their needs. We are immensely grateful to have her with us in Durham.
