Y Learning Year in Review!

May 2022

At the Chapel Hill - Carrboro YMCA, we recently celebrated the end of a great year of Y Learning! The 2022 - 2023 was unique in many ways.

"It was such a rewarding year of Y Learning. Our students were definitely excited to be back to in-person school, and at the same time we know the additional academic support was so beneficial given the previous challenges presented by the pandemic and remote learning." -Randy Smith, Associate Director of Youth Programs

In total, 94 students were served across four local program sites: Carrboro, Estes Hills, New Hope and Rashkis elementary schools.

Beyond the academic benefits, the Y is glad to have the opportunity to also support social-emotional development and introduce our students to skill development with partner programs like YMCA Swim For Life, which teaches safety around water.

"Swim For Life is a special opportunity for our students. Many of us take access to those critical water safety skills for granted, and our students and their parents truly appreciate that the Y can boost their confidence in that way."

48 students chose to take part in Swim For Life during the school year.

These programs and the extended reach of the YMCA are made possible through community support of the Annual We Build People Campaign. Every gift is an investment in children, adults and families that makes our community stronger. Thank you for your continued support of the YMCA.
