Intermediate Pickleball

Join us this September for Intermediate Pickleball at the Poole Family YMCA. Designed for players with a basic understanding of the game, this class will help you build confidence, improve consistency and take your skills to the next level. Through a combination of instructor-led drills, strategy sessions and game play, participants will work on shot selection, court positioning and overall match awareness in a fun and supportive environment.

Whether you're looking to become a more competitive player or simply enjoy the game with greater confidence, this program offers the tools and instruction to help you succeed while connecting with fellow pickleball enthusiasts.

Meet Your Instructor: Joy Bowman
Pickleball Small Group Trainer | Poole Family YMCA, Garner, N.C.

Joy Bowman has been teaching pickleball since 2022 and is passionate about helping players of all ages develop their skills and enjoy the game. Her teaching career began with Tennisbloc, where she instructed beginner, intermediate and advanced-intermediate players at Garner Parks and Recreation facilities and the Garner Recreation Center.

In 2025, Joy joined the Poole Family YMCA as a Pickleball Small Group Trainer. She currently leads multiple intermediate-level classes and a beginner clinic that introduces newcomers to one of the nation's fastest-growing sports. Known for her encouraging teaching style and focus on player development, Joy creates an environment where participants can learn, improve and have fun on the court.
