Join the Poole Family YMCA for a school beautification project on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will clean planters and garden beds, remove debris across the school grounds and refresh the landscaping with new mulch.

The Garner Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Celebration Committee will hold its yearly event marking the life and legacy of Dr. King on Sunday, Jan. 18, at 4 p.m. at Garner Performing Arts Center.
