Bring a book and join Wake Up and Read for snacks and a screening of the documentary "The Right to Read" at the Southeast Raleigh YMCA. The Right to Read follows Oakland NAACP activist, Kareem Weaver, who believes literacy is our most important civil right. With a focus on Black and brown children, Kareem demands Oakland schools bring in science-based reading instruction.

This event will also be a time to donate books for Wake Up and Read's book drive. Bring new or gently used childrens' books when you come.
