Alexander Family YMCA Parking Information

Parking Updates Coming to Alexander Family YMCA

Beginning in September, you'll notice new parking signs throughout the Alexander Family YMCA parking lots as we introduce a camera-monitored parking system managed by Power Parking. Parking at the YMCA has always been reserved for members, program participants and guests actively using the facility, and this new system will provide a more effective way to monitor and enforce that existing policy.

Members are encouraged to begin using the new registration process throughout September so they are familiar with the system before parking enforcement begins October 1.

We know parking is an important part of your Y experience, and we want to make sure everyone understands how the new system will work.

Why Are We Making This Change?

Over time, our parking lots have experienced increased use by individuals who are not visiting the YMCA. This can make it more difficult for members, participants and guests to find parking when they arrive for workouts, programs, swim lessons, camps, classes and other Y activities.

Parking at the Alexander Family YMCA has always been intended for individuals who are actively visiting the YMCA. Unfortunately, unauthorized use of our lots by people not using YMCA facilities has made it more difficult for members and participants to find parking during busy times. The new parking management system will help:

  • Improve parking availability for YMCA users.
  • Discourage unauthorized parking.
  • Create a more convenient and positive member experience.
  • Ensure parking resources are available for those using YMCA facilities and programs.

How the New Parking System Works

Parking at Alexander Family YMCA will continue to be free for authorized YMCA users.

Members and eligible program participants will receive up to three hours of complimentary parking during each visit.

Beginning in September, visitors should begin registering their vehicles using the new system. This initial period will provide an opportunity to become familiar with the process before enforcement begins on October 1.

Before entering the YMCA, please make note of your vehicle's license plate number. You will need to enter your license plate information when registering your parking session.

To activate a parking session:

  1. Arrive at the YMCA as usual.
  2. Have your vehicle's license plate number ready.
  3. Visit the Welcome Desk.
  4. Scan the designated QR code.
  5. Enter your license plate information and follow the prompts to begin your parking session.

The parking lot will be monitored through license plate recognition technology operated by Power Parking.

Tip: Taking a photo of your license plate before entering the building can make the registration process quick and easy!

Information for our Community

The YMCA's parking policy is not changing. Members may continue to park free of charge while actively using the YMCA. The new requirement is that vehicles must be registered through the Power Parking system upon arrival by scanning the QR code at the Welcome Desk during each visit.

We encourage all members to familiarize themselves with this process before Oct. 1 to ensure a smooth transition.

Individuals participating in YMCA programs or visiting the facility should follow the parking instructions provided by YMCA staff.

Specific parking arrangements may vary based on program type, event or facility use. Please check with the Welcome Desk if you have questions about registering your vehicle.

We are proud to be part of the local community and value our relationships with neighboring residents and businesses.

It is important to note that YMCA parking lots have always been intended for members, program participants and guests who are actively using YMCA facilities.

Beginning Oct. 1, Power Parking will begin monitoring YMCA parking lots 24 hours a day, seven days a week to enforce this existing policy more consistently.

Vehicles parked on YMCA property without a valid YMCA parking session or without a YMCA-related purpose may be subject to enforcement action.

Yes. Authorized YMCA users will continue to receive complimentary parking in accordance with YMCA parking guidelines.

You will need your vehicle's license plate number. We recommend taking note of it before entering the YMCA so you can quickly complete the registration process at the Welcome Desk.
