Thursday, Oct. 18 was National Get Smart About Credit Day and students at the Y Learning Program at Stough Elementary celebrated with representatives from Wells Fargo.
SIMPLIFYING A COMPLICATED CONCEPT
“I’ve worked with Wells Fargo for more than 30 years and there’s nothing I enjoy more about my job than getting to go out into the community and work with students,” said Sam Sugg, Wells Fargo Raleigh Market President. “Credit is a complicated concept, but it’s amazing how quickly these kids pick it up when we take some time to go into their classrooms and help them understand it.”
A HEAD START ON UNDERSTANDING CREDIT
Thursday’s activities included reading a credit-themed children’s book, completing a worksheet and a question-and-answer session. “It was exciting to work with these third and fourth-grade students and give them a head start on understanding how credit works,” said Suzie Koonce, a Community Relations Manager at Wells Fargo. “I was impressed with how much they already knew and they asked a ton of really great questions too.”
As the conversation concluded, students were challenged to continue thinking about how credit plays an impact on their families’ everyday lives.
The YMCA is glad to partner with organizations like Wells Fargo, who are committed to building up future generations and strengthening the foundations of our community.
