A Father's Legacy
Kirk Kirkland’s three daughters say that some of their fondest childhood memories were made alongside their father in Y Guides. From campouts to ceremonies to the simple joy of spending uninterrupted time together, the program shaped their family story. To honor those memories, Kirk’s mom, Ann, recently established a named endowment to benefit the program he loved.
The fund will provide financial assistance to participants in Y Guides and other YMCA of the Triangle youth programs, with priority given to families who have lost a father. It’s a meaningful way to ensure that children facing loss can still experience the connection, tradition and togetherness that defined Kirk’s time in Y Guides with his daughters.
The Kirk Kirkland Family Endowment is one of many YMCA of the Triangle funds created to honor the legacy of a loved one. Endowments form permanent, appreciating assets that generate steady, reliable support year after year—making it possible to extend the spirit of a family’s story far into the future.
Through gifts like these, generations of children and parents will continue to grow, bond and make memories together in Y Guides and across the Y’s youth programs.
