STEM Camp
Future engineers, scientists and problem-solvers will love our hands-on STEM camp. Campers will learn about motion, gravity and energy and apply that to designing and building model roller coasters and solar-powered cars. Groups will tackle challenges, explore real-world concepts and engage in interactive projects that spark curiosity and critical thinking.
Through teamwork and experimentation, kids will build, test and discover—gaining confidence while having fun.
STEM Camp Sessions
There will be two weeks of STEM Camp this summer at two locations, the Kerr Family YMCA and the Alexander Family YMCA.
Motion, angles, ramps and gravity and learning the difference between testing and fair testing. Finishing out the week by designing a solar-powered fan car.
Momentum, ramps, angles and twists and turns as campers design their own roller coasters.
Registration
All YMCA Day Camps require a $20 deposit per session. If you do not have a YMCA account, you can create one at the time of registration.

Expert Instructors
Certified STEM and science teachers from local schools deliver high-quality, engaging science, engineering, math and technology lessons that inspire and motivate campers. Far from typical STEM-based quick projects, this camp focuses on education through open studio times, learning and hands-on work.
Hands-On Learning
Campers participate in interactive projects and activities that keep them engaged and active. Our small camper-to-teacher ratio gives kids personalized attention and instruction. Our specialty camps are intentionally small so campers can get the most out of the instruction and activities.
Innovative Curriculum
STEM Camp lessons and projects were designed exclusively by art teachers for YMCA campers. Our curriculum this summer includes lessons on movement, gravity, momentum, motion, pulleys and solar power. Final projects including cooking with solar power and building a roller coaster.
Well-Rounded Experience
Each day blends learning, creativity and fun. Campers grow academically and socially while creating and having fun.
Specialty camps spend the days dedicated to their program, so campers do not swim or participate in other traditional camp activities.
