This Giving Tuesday, Support YMCAs Rebuilding After Hurricane Helene
Just as the YMCA of the Triangle continues to serve and support our local community, we are reminded of the resilience of our fellow YMCAs in Western North Carolina. Not only are they helping their communities recover, but are also in the process of rebuilding themselves after the devastation and ongoing impact of Hurricane Helene.
This Giving Tuesday, Tuesday, Dec. 3, we encourage you to extend your generosity beyond the Triangle to directly support these Ys that were deeply impacted by the storm:
YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly
The destination retreat, conference and camp center in Black Mountain, N.C., is closed until further notice. The stabilization and assessment phases are underway with a long road to recovery ahead.
YMCA of Western North Carolina
After the storm, the Y distributed food and relief supplies, offered free showers and internet, set up an emergency shelter and provided emergency childcare. The Black Mountain YMCA suffered flood damage and is closed until mid-December.
Williams YMCA of Avery County
The Y has been able to reopen to members after serving as a collection and distribution site for donations, as well as a shelter for volunteers and first responders in the initial aftermath of the storm.
By donating, you help these Ys continue their mission of serving communities in need while still shoring up their own foundations and supporting their staff. Let’s come together in the true spirit of the Y and show our support for those who need it most.
Thank you for being part of this effort to uplift our Y family and communities across Western North Carolina!
