POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Association Director of Group Wellness, the Group Fitness Master Trainer’s primary responsibility is to lead and instruct core group fitness programs to YMCA of the Triangle employees. Classes include Cardio, CardioFlex, Strength, Water Fitness, Thrive, Kids & Family, and MindBody.
They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Takes attendance at all classes.
- Ensures all class materials are in order prior to class.
- Communicates course material to participants in a clear and understandable manner.
- Provides constructive feedback to participants throughout the class time.
- Administers written tests and observes skills through assessments.
- Adheres to all certification standards in class instruction and administration.
- Distributes certification cards to class participants upon successful completion of all certification requirements.
- Organizes and turns in all class records in a timely manner.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current advanced instructor or trainer level certification and/or at least 5 years experience in the class format being led.
- Must possess a high level of initiative, professionalism, positive attitude and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills a must.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.
