Monica Brown
Senior Director of Equity Advancement
Monica Brown has been a part of our YMCA since 2013, but she has been breaking barriers her entire life, from growing up in Alabama to being one of a few Black women to play competitive soccer at NC State to challenging our leaders to see things from a different perspective, Monica is a coach at heart. She uses that approach and skill to lead all our Employee Resource Groups to build resources, drive communication and facilitate powerful and engaging conversations that lead to deeper empathy and growth. She also directly guides DEIB communication and serves as a liaison for staff development with Human Resources.

Jasmine graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Her skills in communications, relationship building, administration, academic assistance, and mentoring have proven to be great assets to the Lightner Y Achievers program.
