Get Involved

The YMCA of the Triangle’s Mission demands that we advance racial equity and inclusion for all. The Racial Equity and Leadership Teen Racial Equity Council serves to strengthen local leaders’ knowledge and capacity to eliminate racial disparities, heal racial divisions, and build more equitable communities for all.

A diverse and inclusive approach strengthens a Y’s ability to remain culturally relevant, address social issues and ensures its continued relevance and impact as a Cause-driven organization. We also recognize that we are all on a journey of continuous learning. We must change how we listen to, engage with, respond to, and support marginalized communities to face the critical issues of today. We are more innovative and our communities are stronger when we listen to diverse perspectives as we make decisions.

Teens

The YMCA of the Triangle’s Teen Racial Equity Council will reflect the needs and voices of young people who are represented in the communities we serve. Teens and young adults of all races are lighting the path to the fight for racial justice, and dialogue has never been more important. The Council's goal is to help empower these young people with space and resources to help them engage in these important conversations.
