WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
Big Ideas Series
This series of workshop sessions will explore the topics students would learn about in traditional schools, with the goal of helping parents feel confident in understanding the bigger picture of what students typically learn in elementary and middle school and how to teach these things to students. We will go through the resources classroom teachers use (outside of a textbook) and how to make these concepts fun and "stick" for kids!
Beyond Behaviors Book Club
This is a one-time book club session to discuss the book Beyond Behaviors, an incredible resource for understanding why our children do the things they do and how to support them. This discussion will be especially relevant for families of children who are neurodivergent, but applies to all children.
Goal Setting and Assessment
How do we know what we want our students to learn each year? How do we know when students have learned the things we want them to learn? How do we know if they are growing? In this session we will explore how to set goals for your year and how to use day to day assessments to get the most out of your homeschooling time and avoid boredom and repetition.
Homeschooling High Schoolers
In this workshop series we will discuss all things high school, including awarding credits, developing transcripts, planning for college or post-high school planning, utilizing Dual Enrollment and more!
Working with Avoidant Learners
This workshop will explore strategies and resources for working with kids who struggle with parent or teacher-led learning. We will discuss Deschooling, Student Led Learning, Project Based Learning and more! If you have a kid who thinks they "hate school", this is the workshop for you!
Supporting Your Child’s Sensory Needs
This workshop is for parents of children with sensory processing needs (or suspected sensory needs). Local pediatric occupational therapist, Kylee Leavitt, will be educating you on creating a sensory lifestyle for your family to help your child improve their self-regulation skills, functional independence, and overall ability to function in a sensory-filled world. It will include learning about sensory diets, benefits of using a sensory diet, sensory diet strategies and how to integrate a sensory diet into your child's daily routine. There's no better time than now with it being summer for you to help your child focus on meeting their sensory needs!
