Welcoming Week at the Northwest Cary Y

On September 13 - 21, the YMCA of the Triangle will join communities across the nation to celebrate Welcoming Week, a national event that celebrates the growing movement of communities that fully embrace newcomer immigrants and their contributions to the social fabric of our country.  

 

Opportunities to be a Welcomer at the Northwest Cary YMCA:

Sept 13:  ESL Family Social, 6 - 7:30 p.m.

English Second Language (ESL) families are invited to come celebrate welcome week together with us. Meet new friends and celebrate with old. Bring your favorite dish to share from your native country. Explore games, music and fellowship. Our ESL Family Social is open to the public in our the courtyard of Northwest Cary Y. 

Sept 14: King of the Court Teen Spikeball Tournament

All middle school and high school age teens are invited to sign up for the tournament. Play will be between 8 a.m. - noon. The tournament will be held in Crosspointe Church gym, inside the Y and is open to the public. We will have food, prizes and music. Gift bags will also be given to all new 2024-2025 Leader’s Club registrants. Come learn about Leader’s Club and meet new teens in the area. Sign up to play.

Sept 16 - 20: International Food Trucks

Each day this week we will have a different international food truck from different countries visit our Y. Monday - Thursday, 5 - 7 p.m.  
Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Sept 18: Wellness Wednesday

Learn family nutrition meal prep strategies, including various cuisines, with our nutritionist Gunja from Nutrition Health Works who will give tips and tricks on making healthy and tasty meals! This session will be held from 4 - 5 p.m. in Studio A.

Sept 21: International Vendor Market 

This month our Northwest Cary Market will be held on Sat., Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. - noon with an international theme. Join us for this free family event. There will be a kids craft station, scavenger hunt with prizes, music, food truck, local international vendors and fresh produce. 

Sept 13 - 21: International Kid Zone

Kid Zone will have an international theme this week. Children will learn about cultures through games, music and art.
