Art Camp
Young artists will dive into a world of creativity through drawing, painting, sculpting and mixed media projects. Campers will build their own sketchbooks, explore both 2D and 3D art, and enjoy a balance of structured lessons and open studio time to express their unique ideas. From guided instruction to imaginative exploration, every day encourages creativity, confidence and self-expression.
Art Camp Sessions
There will be two weeks of Art Camp this summer at two locations, the A.E. Finley YMCA and the YMCA at Knightdale Station.
This week, campers will create and use their own art journals to document their learning about a variety of artists, styles and their mediums. The week continues with a focus on color theory and the creation of 3D paper flowers. Campers finish the week with watercolors and printmaking, focusing on local landmarks and skylines.

All YMCA Day Camps require a $20 deposit per session. If you do not have a YMCA account, you can create one at the time of registration.

Campers participate in interactive projects and activities that keep them engaged and active. Our small camper-to-teacher ratio gives kids personalized attention and instruction. Our specialty camps are intentionally small so campers can get the most out of the instruction and activities.
Innovative Curriculum
Art Camp lessons and projects were designed exclusively by art teachers for YMCA campers. Our curriculum this summer includes printmaking, comparing and contrasting different artists and styles, paper sculptures and nature mandalas.
Well-Rounded Experience
Each day blends learning, creativity and fun. Campers grow academically and socially while creating and having fun.
Specialty camps spend the days dedicated to their program, so campers do not swim or participate in other traditional camp activities.
