MMYDC FAQs
Campers are asked to bring a change of clothes, a swimsuit, a towel, lunch, two snacks, and a refillable water bottle. Most campers pack everything in a backpack.
You can find a specific packing list here.
Sunscreen: Yes, campers are encouraged to bring sunscreen to camp. Spray sunscreen is recommended for campers who may need assistance in reapplying.
*LABELING personal items with a first and last name is highly recommended and is very helpful in getting lost & found items back to our campers.
How does Rides In (drop-off) and Rides Out (pick-up) work?
- Rides In will take place in the circle in front of the building from 7 to 8:55 a.m. Please wait for a leadership staff member to check in your camper before sending them into the building. Our busiest time of Rides In tends to be between 8 - 8:30 a.m., especially on Monday mornings as we welcome new campers and acclimate them to camp. Please be patient with us as we navigate these busy times!
- Rides Out is from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. and will run in the same area as Rides In. Parents/guardians must present a pick-up card (provided the first day of camp) or an ID as a safety precaution. Our busiest time of Rides Out tends to be from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Please be patient with us as we navigate these busy times!
Can I drop off early? For the safety of your child, we cannot allow children to be dropped off prior to Rides In early while our staff are setting up for camp, we cannot ensure proper supervision.
Can I pick up early? Yes! We need to know about early pick-ups in advance or you may need to wait 5-10 minutes for your camper to gather their things and make it to your vehicle when you arrive.
What happens if I’m late to pick up? All kids must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. If you are running late, please call our camp number at 984-260-7595 to let us know. The first late pick up is a warning. Additional late pick-ups will be a $5 fee for parents/guardians for the first 10 minutes and $1 for every minute thereafter.
Where should I go if I need to drop off late or pick my child up early? If you are arriving between 8:55 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., please call the camp phone at 984-260-7595.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we will take field trips to YMCA Camp Clearwater (1720 Clearwater Lake Road, Chapel Hill)! There, campers will have the opportunity to participate in archery, canoeing and fishing! We will leave Meadowmont by 10:45 a.m. and return to Meadowmont around 2 p.m.
Huddles/groups at camp are separated based off age. Campers are then split evenly between groups. Each huddle is staffed at a 1:12 ratio, typically with 24 children in a huddle with two staff.
We offer a wide range of activities to engage our campers. Daily activities include swimming and a multitude of group games, teambuilding activities, assemblies and meal times. Each week, your child will have a chance to participate in activities like sports, arts & crafts, and camp games.
Campers will swim Monday through Friday. Each group will have about an hour to swim. Learn more about swimming at camp.
