Community Hope Mentoring

Community Hope is a community support program operating in 6 affordable housing communities in the Raleigh area.  Students in Community Hope come four days a week to meet with mentors, develop meaningful relationships, and have fun! During mentoring time, students and mentors work through a literacy plan that addresses the student’s individual learning need at each grade level, beginning with kindergarten and continuing through high school graduation.

In addition to striving to address academic needs, the Y hopes to serve the collective community through investing deeply in relationships, listening to community needs, and advocating on the community's behalf.

Community Hope is hosted in local church partners in close proximity to neighborhoods served. Are you interested in learning more about Community Hope?  Please contact the appropriate Y staff member designated below:

WANT TO MENTOR A CHILD?

Community HOPE relies heavily on volunteers. We need volunteers during the school year to help with literacy development. Each student is paired with two adult mentors who strongly support the student for an entire school year and often longer.

VOLUNTEER

Specific training for each mentor is provided, along with guidance from Community HOPE staff.
