Program Information
YMCA Track Out and Intersession Camp sessions are offered for any year-round or modified calendar school. The program operates at our YMCAs in Wake and Durham County. Each day, children spend time swimming, playing games, participating in sports and doing arts and crafts.
Children are grouped by age and grade and spend the day with their peers, YMCA youth staff and counselors. There is plenty of outside time, STEM activities and active fun to keep your child engaged all day long.
YMCA Track Out and Intersession Camps operate from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. and is offered for ages 5 - 14, kindergarten through grade 8. The Northwest Cary YMCA Track Out Camp program starts at 7:30 a.m.
Sessions
Track Out and Intersession Camp is offered in weekly sessions. Most weeks are five days and some are shorter if there are holidays or teacher workdays. Registrants are encouraged to check the specific dates for their Track Out and Intersession Camps.

Theme Weeks
All theme weeks will be offered at each camp location throughout the year; however, the schedule and timing of each theme may vary by Track Out session to align with seasonal opportunities, holidays and the camp calendar.
This week, campers explore the outdoors through hands-on nature challenges, team games and discovery-based activities. Along the way, they build confidence, teamwork and leadership while learning to respect and care for the natural world. We’ll create meaningful experiences that spark curiosity, encourage responsibility and foster a lasting love of exploration.
Campers explore the delicious world of food through creative, hands-on activities and interactive challenges. From no-bake treats and taste tests to food-themed games and crafts, each day introduces new ways to learn about nutrition, flavors and cultures. This engaging week encourages curiosity, teamwork and creativity while helping campers build confidence and a positive relationship with food.
Campers take center stage during this star-studded week filled with excitement and imagination. Through arts and crafts, active games and creative play, campers experience the fun and flair of life in the spotlight. Each day offers new opportunities for self-expression, confidence-building and plenty of Hollywood-style fun.
Camp hits rewind as campers travel through time to discover what made yesterday so awesome. Each day introduces a different era, inviting campers to explore how people lived, played and created throughout history. With themed crafts, outdoor adventures, dress-up days and classic games, every time period becomes a brand-new adventure.
Campers celebrate the excitement of holidays from around the year—including the Fourth of July, Halloween, Christmas and more—through themed games, crafts and festive challenges. Each day immerses campers in a new celebration, sparking imagination and curiosity. The week concludes with a special YMCA Birthday Party, bringing all campers together for a joyful celebration of the Y as we celebrate 169 years of service in the Triangle.
Campers step into their own superhero stories through teamwork challenges, creative missions and action-packed fun. Along the way, they explore important values like courage, kindness and responsibility while discovering the unique strengths that make every hero special. This empowering week celebrates the hero within every camper.
Campers explore the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, arts and math through hands-on experiments, creative problem-solving and team challenges. Activities spark curiosity, encourage questioning and celebrate discovery in ways that are age-appropriate, safe and fun. We will play interactive games, build projects and explore how learning and creativity go hand in hand.
Camp transforms into a frosty world of fun as campers experience the magic of winter—no matter the temperature outside. Through themed crafts, imaginative play and active games, campers explore snowy adventures, chilly challenges and seasonal traditions. This playful week encourages creativity, teamwork and a sense of wonder as campers celebrate all things winter.
Get ready for a wild adventure as campers journey into the exciting world of animals and habitats. Through interactive games, crafts and outdoor exploration, campers discover creatures from around the globe while learning about wildlife, conservation and the importance of caring for our environment. This week sparks curiosity, encourages teamwork and brings out every camper’s inner explorer.
This high-energy week brings campers together through teamwork, character building and vibrant activities. Each day will highlight a YMCA core value and color through games, crafts and fun challenges. We will wrap up with a Color Run—a joyful celebration where campers come together to show off their community spirit in a burst of bright colors.
Calling all aliens, astronauts, time travelers and wizards! This week, campers launch into imaginative adventures filled with space travel, magic and make-believe. From fueling up spaceships and time-traveling cars to casting creative spells, campers are encouraged to bring their costumes, creativity and sense of wonder for a week that’s truly out of this world.
Campers travel the globe without leaving camp as they explore cultures, traditions and landmarks from different countries each day. Through music, games, crafts and themed activities, campers experience the diversity that makes our world unique. Campers jump into action with a week full of friendly competition, skill-building and active fun. Through a variety of sports, team games and creative challenges, campers develop coordination, teamwork and sportsmanship. Each day offers new opportunities to stay active, try new activities and celebrate both individual effort and team success.
