The new school year is right around the corner, we know teens and their families are looking for more ways to get involved, make a difference, meet new people and have fun. The YMCA has a number of year-round and seasonal teen programs that start in the fall.
The YMCA of the Triangle empowers the next generation of changemakers through programs and initiatives that teach skills needed for positive social change, support physical and mental well-being, cultivate leadership and encourage post-secondary college and career pathways. We employ hundreds of future leaders in our youth, wellness and camp programs.
NC Youth & Government
One of our most popular teen programs, Youth and Government is a nationwide civic program that prepares high school students for moral and political leadership. Through local YMCAs and schools, Youth and Government empowers high-school students from every corner of the U.S.
Leaders Club
Teens make a difference through YMCA Leaders Club, a leadership development community service program that helps them discover their full potential. It is a safe place where teens can come and simply be themselves.
Lightner Y Achievers
The Clarence E. Lightner YMCA Achievers program introduces teens in grades 6 - 12 to adults of color who guide them through experiences that prepare them for life after high school. Through civic engagement, community service projects, and academic enhancement programs, students make new friends, learn healthy lifestyle choices and prepare for their future.
Teen Racial Equity Council
The Racial Equity and Leadership Teen Racial Equity Council serves to strengthen local leaders’ knowledge and capacity to eliminate racial disparities, heal racial divisions, and build more equitable communities for all.
YMCA Jobs
We hire teens at age 16 and teach them responsibility, accountability and leadership through employment in our Youth, Aquatics, Membership and Wellness areas.
