National Day of Racial Healing Community Conversation
Saturday, Jan. 13, 9 a.m. – noon with a breakfast 8 a.m.
First Baptist Church of Raleigh, N. Salisbury Street
Together with The Encouraging Place and the Triangle MLK Committee, the YMCA will co-host a local interactive conference, open to the community, for the Kellogg Foundation’sNational Day of Racial Healing. The event at First Baptist Church is an opportunity to bring all people together in their common humanity and inspire collective action to create a more just and equitable world.
The morning will feature a continental breakfast, speakers and small group breakout sessions.
- 8 – 9 a.m., check-in, continental breakfast and networking
- 9 – 10 a.m., welcome and speakers
- 10 – 11 a.m. , small group breakout sessions
- 11 a.m. – Noon, group topic presentations, next steps and closing remarks

44th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebrations
Join your community with a variety of events held in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. These events are held in conjunction with the Triangle MLK Committee.
Interfaith Prayer Breakfast
Monday, Jan. 15, 7 – 9 a.m.
Sheraton Imperial Hotel, Durham
The YMCA of the Triangle is a co-sponsor of the annual breakfast presented by the Triangle MLK Committee that brings together community members and leaders in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s enduring legacy. A Lightner Y Achievers teen will be among the slate of speakers in the first half of the program.
Keynote speaker: The Reverend Canon Dr. Sandye A Wilson
- Doors open at 6 a.m. Breakfast is available until 8 a.m.
- The program starts at 7:15 a.m.

The Lightner Y Achievers will lead the YMCA of the Triangle’s presence at the annual MLK Day March. March line-up begins at 10 a.m. with the event beginning at 11 a.m. from the State Capitol.

MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage individuals to volunteer within their communities in honor of Dr. King's legacy.
