January 17 marks a day of service honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We invite you to answer the call to serve our neighbors and communities through volunteer and service opportunities at our YMCAs.
Our YMCA branches are hosting events throughout the day including meal packing, community clean-up days and blood drives. See below for an opportunity near you.
A.E. Finley YMCA
Hosting a blood drive on Tue., Jan. 18.
Alexander Family YMCA
Accepting donations for the Women's Center of Raleigh.
Accepting supply donations and packing kits for CORA Food Pantry.
Hosting a community clean-up day on Jan. 21.
East Triangle YMCA
Supporting a meal packing event with several other non-profits.
Kerr Family YMCA
Gathering supplies for toiletry kits for the Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry.
Poole Family YMCA
Food and supply drive to benefit local families.
Southeast Raleigh YMCA
A full weekend of events including voter registration, toiletry kit donations and assembly and more.
Taylor Family YMCA
A clothing drive with an area non-profit and providing volunteer opportunities.
Regional Food Distribution Hubs
There are other opportunities to serve beyond January 18. The Poole Family YMCA, Southeast Raleigh YMCA and the YMCA at Knightdale Station are operating as regional food hubs for meal distribution for families in Wake County. Through this partnership, we will be providing one to two weeks' worth of shelf-stable and fresh food at select locations throughout the rest of the year. Find a volunteer opportunity here.
