Camp Kerr FAQs

Where is the drop-off ("Rides In") and pick-up ("Rides Out")?

  • Behind the Kerr Family YMCA in the rear carpool loop.

How does Rides In work?

  • 7 – 8:45 a.m. During this time, we offer curbside drop-off while campers play in mixed groups.
  • 8:45 – 9:15 a.m. During this time, we will continue to offer curbside drop-off. However, campers will be in their huddle groups for snack and assembly.

How does Rides Out work?

  • 4 – 4:20 p.m. You must select this option at drop off. Campers will be pulled from their groups at 3:45 p.m. and dismissed from the upstairs multipurpose room side door beginning at 4 p.m. If campers are not picked up by 4:20 p.m., they will be taken to the mixed groups and must be picked up in Rides Out.
  • 3:45 - 4:30 p.m. Office Closed for Transitions; No Additional drop-off or pick-up
  • 4:30 – 6 p.m. Rides Out during this time, we offer curbside pick-up while campers play in mixed groups.

How are children divided into groups?

  • We separate groups (that we call huddles) by grade level. Each huddle is staffed at a 1:12 ratio to ensure campers supervision and safety.

What will my child do on a typical day?

  • We offer a wide range of activities to engage our campers. Daily activities include assemblies, PE style active games, swimming archery, crafts, huddle team building etc. You will receive a newsletter each week detailing all of the special events that are happening that week.

Campers are asked to bring a change of clothes, a swimsuit, a towel, lunch, two snacks, and a refillable water bottle. Most campers pack everything in a backpack. You can find a specific packing list here.

We are able to administer both daily and emergency medications. Please bring all medications in their original containers to us on the first day of camp. We will supply you with a medication form.

Yes! We swim in our indoor pool 5-days a week. Swim band assessments are optional and only offered on Mondays. Campers that do not have a swim band will be provided with a YMCA life jacket. Campers must have a swim band or life jacket to swim in our pool. Campers in the splash pool do not need either to participate in swim time.

Our weekly parent newsletter will go out every Friday prior to the week campers are registered for. Within the newsletter we will have huddle highlight information and updates. Within this email we will have a link to our private Facebook group. Our Facebook group will have daily photos from around camp and staff interviews. We highly suggest parents join this group.
