Camp Kerr: Extras

Summer 2024

Camp Kerr Extras, for rising grades 1 - 5, and subdivided for age-appropriate activities, allows your child to specialize in topics of his or her special interest during activity periods and give the summer some variety. All activity periods focus on a specific topic, and campers take related weekly field trips or welcome special guests to camp on Wednesdays.

Campers still enjoy the fun of assemblies, swimming and some camp activities with the rest of Camp Kerr.

All campers are encouraged to try everything, to do their best and are led by a team of YMCA youth staff and counselors.

Session Specialty Details

*Please note that activities and projects will be unique between sessions that repeat a focus specialty like Art or STEM.

ART: Campers will experience a variety of exciting art projects, including painting, drawing, and sculpting. With a focus on fostering imagination and self-expression. 

STEM: Science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Campers will engage in thought-provoking activities and experiments.

COOKING: Campers love learning with their hands and having a yummy treat at the end makes it that much better! We will focus on cooking that does not require heat sources.

NATURE: Campers will explore their natural environment and engage in projects to learn more about plants, animals and insects.
